This is real life

I need to rake

I need to put away the clothes sitting outside Miles' room

I need to clean off the table and refill the fruit bowl and do dishes

I don't even really know what I need to do about this

I need to shower and clean the mirror and throw out that old and very stained towel

But I think I'll just get dressed and take the boys to the play place at the community center to get their wiggles out. Because that's what they need.

This post is a part of You Capture: Real Life over at I Should Be Folding Laundry.

P.S. Because I've been over-posting lately (I don't know what the deal is with that? Maybe how I handle moving stress? Procrastination? Could be?) you may have missed my last post with pictures of Asher in his second pair of glasses. You can see them by clicking HERE. If you want.

See, now my to do list is twice as long! I was trying to ignore all of those things! Of course, my laundry is all on the couch and the towels in the bathroom are all over the floor, and. . .

I think I'll go shopping instead! I have some pants to return and replace!

Why rake? The leaves are beautiful.

And yeah, the baby's laundry still hasn't been put away around here. You know, the stuff from Sunday!!

This makes me miss you. Wonder when we can hang out again? You know you're not that far of a drive...

Love this and love you.

(I have a basket of clean laundry going on several days now of waiting to be put away.)

Ashley Says :

Love the mask photo. And the last one is so me. I just put my toddler in the bath after a messy morning and decided to dunk my head in so that I wouldn't look like a monster. How's that for washing your hair? What I never thought I'd do. :)

Great captures. :)

I have stuff laying all over, too. Just think, it makes your house all loved and lived in, all rumpled up like that. Just what a house needs!

Ann's Rants Says :
November 12, 2009 9:54 AM

Exactly why I'm still at home instead of the grocery store.

The kids only play together well when we have other things to do.

Other things can wait.

Umm, yeah. Those glasses? Cute is an understatement!

Kazzy Says :
November 12, 2009 10:16 AM

I have soooo many i-need-to things on my list, but I have learned that many of them can wait. Moments with the kids, nope.

Kelly @ The Miller Mix Says :
November 12, 2009 10:19 AM

Your priorities are in the right order. The house crap will always be there (and there will always be another stack of laundry to put away or dishes to wash), but time with those amazing kids is fleeting.

I'm just happy to see more of you!! I love the pictures, especially the darth masks on the wall. =]

Corinne Says :

Rebecca Says :

I think you made the perfect choice for how to spend your day - the dishes can wait!

Amy Says :
November 12, 2009 10:57 AM

I decided my to do list can wait, too. It is a play day at our house, too. Cleaning is so overrated.

Cynthia Says :
November 12, 2009 11:11 AM

And how wonderful it is for you to get to be able to CHOOSE again instead of having to be company ready every second. Have fun!

And I really SHOULD be folding laundry- I've got a mountain of it. Ack!

a Tonggu Momma Says :

What to do about the helmets? Put on some brown earmuffs, pretend to be Princess Leia and join the boys in their play.

Kelly Langner Sauer Says :

Becca Says :

Do you have a lawnmower with a catcher-bag? That made my life really happy on MOnday. Bye, bye leaves.

Also, there is no such thing as you over-posting.

LisAway Says :

If you didn't sort of tidy at least a LITTLE before some of those shots. . . well. I won't be mad or anything, I'll just say that it looks like you really keep on top of things and you deserve to leave that HUGE MESS and take your boys out. :)

And we also have a special coat rack just for Vader gear. (not really)

Chief Says :
November 12, 2009 12:47 PM

I totally missed the Asher pics! That is the cutest thing ever!

and about the stained towel, just rip in to smaller ones and voila! new rags!

PS your house is way clean!

Mommy Mo Says :
November 12, 2009 1:26 PM

Little boys like to play in the leaves, don't they? I love the sound leaves make when you walk on them. Raking is totally overrated.

So is laundry : ).

5thsister Says :
November 12, 2009 1:37 PM

LOL! I agree...way too clean! I want whatever magic wand you must have up your sleeve.

Heather of the EO Says :
November 12, 2009 1:53 PM

Apparently I need to take photos of entire rooms for you all to get the whole effect! MESSY. (but if it's somewhat clean-looking it could just be left-over from all the cleaning for house showings) :)

Haley Says :
November 12, 2009 2:10 PM

I'm loving the shot with the leaves! So pretty! :-)

Also, the star wars masks made me laugh!

tiddlyompompom Says :

Wiggling is soooooooooooo much more important than housework. Also, I would leave the darth vader masks where they are. You never know when you'll need one.

Lara Says :
November 12, 2009 2:33 PM

Good for you.

Cleaning can wait. It's always there. I've had to remind myself of that lots and lots.

And I got a huge giggle out of your over posting comment. I did the same thing right before I moved. I finally had to have the internet disconnected a week before d-day to get any real work done!

susannah Says :
November 12, 2009 2:46 PM

oh my goodness- love the masks hanging. and how cute do you look in that mirror photo? i've been ignoring the mess for a while now, to do other more fun things. like frolic.

Well there is messy and then there is messy. You know...messy like crazy people...and normal messy. I would say you have a normally messy house. The kind of house that children live in. PERFECT! Love the stained towel and your sweats...Hilarious! VERY REAL. I may have to do this project too. Holly at lifelaughlatte.blogspot.com

Jenni Jiggety Says :

Dave Says :
November 12, 2009 3:54 PM

1) NEVER throw away a towel.
2) At least you got dressed, right? :-)
3) It is NOT easy to get anything done when you have bored pre-schoolers. Talk about one step forward two steps back :-)

wendy Says :

getting the wiggles out ------and then NAP??

Jessica Says :

Erin Says :
November 12, 2009 5:27 PM

I had the same thought today. I looked at my messy house and thought, It'll be there tomorrow. And then we left to go play.

Mayhem and Moxie Says :
November 12, 2009 5:38 PM

I heart those glasses. May Asher be slow to grow out of them....because I'd like you to take more pictures of your darling boy with them on.

Oh, and I thought blogging was a form of procrastination, no?

Cynthia@RunningWithLetters Says :
November 12, 2009 6:54 PM

Nothing needs to be done with the masks. Absolutely nothing.

Jen Says :

I find that cleaning with small boys is a bit like shoveling in the midst of a blizzard.
And what's the point of that?

JCK Says :
November 12, 2009 11:15 PM

Fall leaves...*sigh*

BigLittleWolf Says :
November 13, 2009 10:30 AM

This all looks extraordinarily neat to me... I do hope these are the after pictures...

It's fairly hopeless. The cleaning part I mean. 18 years into it, and I've semi-given up, as long as the Health Department doesn't come calling.

becca Says :
November 13, 2009 2:53 PM

omg... I can so relate. I have piles upon piles of stuff everywhere that need to be put away. But when it comes down to it, I'd always RATHER be doing something else. Something more interesting than putting stuff away. So I end up living out of the piles. Living out of the dishwasher, the laundry machine. It's ok, if someone complains -they can put the stuff away! Great blog!

Kori Says :
November 13, 2009 3:30 PM

I am slinking away in shame.......becuase when my house is CLEAN, that's not even close to what it looks like! Meh-for about 32 and a half seconds I was feeling inferior, but then I remembered that I really don't care. :) Hope you had a most excellent time playing; soon enough the bitter cold will be here and you will have all the time in the world to clean and put things away (though okay, I AM a little jealous about the whole fruit bowl thing).

Jason Says :
November 13, 2009 4:13 PM

Cheers.

The darth masks made me laugh out loud!

Good decision to take the boys to play -- an inspiration to me...I often choose chores over playtime.

I did rake today -- I have a million, billion oak leaves, too -- aren't they the worst because they always fall so late?! My 4-year-old "helped" -- it was actually pretty fun.

Krista Says :
November 13, 2009 8:52 PM

We ALL "should" be doing something else, but enjoy them while they're young. The laundry will always be there!

Heather Says :
November 14, 2009 7:20 AM

Just think when the boys get older and you can offer them $20 to rake your yard.

Yea, but even the money hunger children won't do it either, the front yard always gets done, but the girls never do the back. Jer never pays them if they don't do it all.....I wonder....

Love Asher's back up glasses, too cute! Hopefully they stay on his face this time. When The Chicken was 4 and in glasses we were at the opthomolgist's office every week so they could fix her glasses. Why didn't we ever think of getting a back up pair.

Ryan Ashley Scott Says :
November 14, 2009 7:56 AM

I love how all your photos make the stuff you haven't done yet look so fabulous. Real life is pretty!

Taking the kiddos to get their wiggles out? That sounds like so much more fun than the "should" stuff.

mama-face Says :
November 14, 2009 4:45 PM

Yeah, my daughter just informed me that if I didn't rake the leaves, the grass would die. WHA? I think i've lived through a few more winters than she, and who cares about the grass? :)

I love the quality of your photos. As well as the quantity.

Over posting? What's that?
