From the mouth of Miles

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After a bath, I look over at Miles (his bath, not mine) and he's standing there pulling on his nipple. Hard.

So I say, "Honey, that's not going to come off."

And he says, "Yeah, I'm just seeing if it will come off."

So I say, "Those are part of your body."

And he says, "Yeah. They don't come off. They're not play doh."

"No, honey. They aren't play doh."
--------------------------------------------
After a long day of NOT LISTENING AT ALL (Miles, not me) I put him in a time-out and he starts freaking out.

So I say, "Miles, I would stop doing that if I were you."

Pause.

"What, mommy?" with a look of confusion on his face- what do you mean, if I were you?

So I explain (really well). "You know. If I were you, like if mommy was you, I would make a good choice and listen to me."

A light bulb seems to go on and crosses his face, "Oooh, yeeeaaah....and then I would be the grown-up!!!"

Yeah. You would be the grown-up. You win. I surrender. Geez.

Wow! Bright kid to turn that around on you like that! I love their little light bulb moments :)

Just imagine if our body parts were play-doh. I could pull a little off the belly, smush those thighs back flat and smooth. This is a brilliant idea!

My little brother was a rather chubby baby and he used to try and breastfeed himself with his own breasts. Your post just made me think of that.

Um. If you people are not reading Mary, you're missing some really good laughs. Like the one she just gave me in her comment. Holy cow that woman is funny. :)

And YES, Debbie! If only I could pull the play doh off my stomach right now. A true dream come true...

I wonder if he put a little play-doh on his nipple and then pulled it off if that would REALLY confuse him. Cute boy.

Maybe he's practicing to be a plastic surgeon? Good for him.

I can't wait until baby G is old enough to utter gobs of cuteness. So funny!

That is cute. Gives playdoh a whole new meaning. When I asked Nick the other day what made him poop in his pants. (we're training, trying to "listen" to our body...go on the potty. It's a chant) "Nick, What made you go in your pants?"
He answered "My butt."

I once heard a little boy say that nipples were the snaps that kept his skin on because they look like snaps on blue jeans. LOL. Blessings, Whitney

LOVE the play-doh body parts!

I'm pretty sure my stomach is pure play-doh.
Now if I could just figure out how to re-sculpt it....

Thanks for the encouraging comment! I'm feeling much better today after some sleep and whiskey.

Your kid is clever, not surprising though with such clever parents.

Hahahahahaha!!!! That is to your post and to Mary's comment!!

Your boy is a clever kid :-) Very perceptive come back. And indeed, I wish our body parts were play dough. I would pull pieces off until I get back to my pre-pregnancies shape.

Heather, somehow I'm jealous of you. Well, maybe jealous is not the word. I just miss that stage of my kids' lives. The cute and adorable stage. The things that come out of teen-agers' mouths are hardly cute and adorable if you know what I mean :-)

Haaaa. Kids. You gotta love em.

Smart boy. Sounds like he has parents who talk to him a lot. That will show you.
