Are you ready to PAAARTAY?

Ultimate Blog Party 2009

Isn't this crazy? We can even party hop on-line now.
Which means I don't even have to do my hair.
I can just sit around looking like this:

Except I don't really look like this because I have brown hair now.
But my face? Totally the same.
I don't make this face at real life parties, but I make it a lot at home.
So there you have it. This is what I'm doing right now. Most likely.
I'm a party animal.
---------------------

Welcome to the Extraordinary Ordinary. If you're new here thanks to 5 Minutes for Mom, please don't be scared. I don't always make that face.

Rather, I spend hours on end smiling and playing peacefully with my two boys, Miles and Asher. They're ages 3 and 1, and we play cars constantly and I never tire of it. (That wasn't the truth. I love to play with my boys in short doses, but the truth is that my attention span is a bit short for Hot Wheel play for hours on end. So if my regular readers were here with us, they would be shaking their heads and giving a little chuckle at my sarcasm.)

Yes, I can be a bit sarcastic, but I really am totally in love with my family. We've had a rough year, finding out that Asher has hydrocephalus and going through a surgery to have a brain shunt put in place. He's doing really well now, thank you for asking. Both of my boys totally rock.

I'll keep this short (I'll try) because I know you've got lots of party hopping to do and I don't want to keep you too long. Here's the run-down on me: I'm 33, married to Ryan, you know the mom part, I'm a Christian but I'm not all that conservative, I love Peeps (both kinds-marshmallow sugary Peeps and also People), I used to be a social worker and worked with the mentally ill, I struggle with depression myself and humor and my faith pull me through that, I'm totally scattered most of the time and make a fool of myself often. Blogging reminded me that I love to write and I love the connections I've made here on the world-wide interweb.

You can read posts that don't stink as much as this one by going to the top of the page and clicking Greatest Hits. There are stories there where I've humiliated myself and they might make you laugh. The posts where I wax philosophical and theological and poetical on everything from mothering to faith and life are there too.

Whew. That's it. Oh...except, you should probably know I say "rocks" and "rocks the party" far too often. But I guess that's appropriate for today, since this is a blog party.

Thank you for making a stop here.
Let me know you did so I can check out your party too.
And if you're up for a more serious side of me (yes, I do have one),
check out one of my latest posts about my past, the messes I've made, and grace.

I'll peek in on you once I know you've been here.

Like this:

Creeeepy!

Peace out.

Yea it's party time! I'll be partying next week - my little one has been SICK this week and as much as I love having my husband around I have to admit that he is no help around the inside of the house (he's great at taking care of stuff on the outside!) so... there is a pile of dirty dishes to get through and some laundry to put away before I can start really partying!

jubilee said...

Heh heh. You are one funny chick. Oh, and your sassy haircut? It rocks. Totally.

Kristina P. said...

Did I know that you used to be a social worker? It does sound vaguely familiar.

LisAway said...

Heather, you are a party ANIMAL!

And you totally ROCK this party.

Sabrina said...

You are pretty creeeeepy!
But i still heart you all the same!!! :)

Muthering Heights said...

You SHOULD make that face at all parties...because I'm assuming that with two little ones, the nature of the parties you usually attend these days is perfectly suited to such faces. You would be the life of every party! :)

Rach@In His Hands said...

Heather, I just love you, girl...your sarcasm and your party animalness and that you met Jodi and that you LOVE PEEPS.

Yep, I do.

Evolving Mommy Catherine said...

How did I not know about a party? I'm not even dressed or showered! I totally need to get my but in gear and get ready to party! Oh and by the way, I am pretty sure that it is not possible to say rocks or rocks the party too much. I'm just sayin.

Deb said...

YOU rock, my dear! fun little catch up post on you. i needed a few details filled in, myself, since i am sorta kinda new.

looks like a rockin' partay. have fun and hope you meet lots of new peeps. no dancing on the coffee table, though. not until the kids are in bed, anyway.

Anonymous said...

Party like a rock star, baby! I love that you say "Rocks the house!" I say that all the time! And guess what, you do rock so it's only fair that you get to say it. =]

Unknown said...

That's a hot look, you should rock it all the time ;) I just sent you an email, but I saw on your profile you are in MN...where abouts? I grew up there and am trying to move back. I am following you now, look forward to getting to know you.

Debbie said...

I hope you have a great time at this party and win some good prizes.

Mrs.Naz@BecomingMe said...

OK, so you know I'm not a newbie, but I could not resist the temptation to stop by and part-tay with some one whom I would love to party with in real life! I hope you win something awesome and gain lots of new followers. I've so enjoyed reading your blog over the past few months!

jmt said...

I love that meeting her rocked. I love that you say rock. It's such a strong, solid word. Heavy. Durable. :) Coincidence? I think not. Happy Party! I do NOT have one at my place since, well...I'm at work and not really able to party.

Erin said...

What a fun post! And that picture is not creepy. I do want to see you make the cross-eyed face in person one day though.

One of the best of the day, Heather... but then, I'd expect that from you. And as for enjoying playing cars with your boys - I'd believe you only IF you were referring to dodging cars in traffic.

Sara said...

I love peeps too. :)

Mrs. Dunbar said...

Love the first picture. Every time I read your blog from now on I am going to mentally picture you making that face at me. HA-ha-ha.

There's a blog party at five minutes for mom? How did I miss that?

Stonefox said...

Happy UBP you party animal you.

I saw the other day where you were giving away Jodi's book but I didn't have to to comment. Now, well...now the girls are down for a nap and the guys are out! I've only read one of her books- Sister's Keeper- but I loved it! How cool for you to meet her!

CC said...

Love the face!!

I don't think I've told you but I'm an evangelical Christian and not at all conservative. and I'm good like that.

I do love Jodi Picoult, so I'll be headed to your giveaway next! ;)

Honk. Sorry. Couldn't help that. Anyway -- I just hopped over here and wanted to say "Hey!" So, "Hey!" Have fun not playing Hotwheels with your boys. My boys are constantly trying to get me to play airsoft with them. I told them that I would, but only on the condition that I get to be on the roof with my BB gun. For some reason, they don't like that idea. Huh. Go figger.

Anyway, hope you'll stop in over at my place. I'm serving virtual cheesecake and cinnamon rolls (guilt free!). Hope to see you there!

Just stopping by on the UBP circuit and so GLAD I did! Your blog (and design) totally rock! (I couldn't help it - I had to say it). Love that you're from the MIDWEST and sarcastic - I'm a big fan of both! I grew up in ND and spent loads of time at the U of Minnesota doctoring. Enjoy the weekend! Stop by my blog when you have a chance.

You know I love me some sarcasm! Can you imagine life without it? You did such a great intro on yourself for this partay. Don't you EVER peek in on me in that particular way, please. Come at me with that face on the top picture though, and I'll totally let you in.

Happy Saturday!

I'm totally bummed I missed out on your book giveaway. Jodi Picoult is my very favorite author.

I am also jealous of your cheesy interaction with her... at least you HAD one... me? Nothing. I've got nothing.

Is the new book good? I want to read it ... BAD!
