Server

Sunday~June 14, 2009

I had the pleasure of helping my sister out at the restaurant she runs this weekend. The place is more than charming and the food is really good too. As I bussed tables and washed dishes, I was transported back to the years when I ran my butt off (literally) as a server. I loved working in restaurants, there's just something about the camaraderie of a restaurant family you can't find anywhere else. Maybe it has something to do with how hard you work, and how much you need to help each other to make things run smoothly.

When I got back yesterday, Ryan and I made dinner together at our very own private restaurant.

Cafe of the EO
, if you will...

We have outdoor seating here...

All Most foods are prepared fresh daily...

The customers are always almost always satisfied...

We have really hard working bussers...

They have a really good work ethic. Until they get tired...

Then they just totally lose their minds...

So we let them punch out and we set them free...

There's just something about the camaraderie of this business.

I really really love being a server.

Aww, what a great little mom&pop shop you're running--Complete with the cutest little customers & bussers! And that food's looking mighty good right now. Great. Now I'm hungry. :-)

What a fun little restaurant you have going there! It looks like everyone had a great time. Even after they were tired, they still had fun!

Oh, how I wish I could eat at the Cafe of the EO, too! Miles' grin picture and Asher's cheesy grin is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!

Looks like you run a fun ship there, which is the first order of business when serving food.

I loved being a waitress, too. Some of the best fun.

tee hee - that's funny. :)

I never worked as a waitress, though, I am WAY too clumsy. :) Once while serving at a college banquet, I poured a man's drink & poured into his lap with the pitcher in my other hand at the same time. Fortunately they were both cold drinks. :) At that moment I decided waitressing was NOT for me. :)

I'd like to make reservations for 5. I bet your servers make a boatload of tips - they are cute!

I was a server for years, and strangely I loved it too, there is something about the environment.

My friend had been a server for years and she always describes a restaurant as a dysfunctional family. It looks to me like yours is working just right.

Oh. Mygoodness. I think I just died of the cuteness thereof.

I waited tables once upon a time too. I wish I had thought of Asher's cup technique. Could have carried a lot more at once!

Love this! I really love being a server too. And my kids actually love it when we play "restaurant night" (menus, choices of leftovers...haven't done that for awhile.). I think Cafe of the EO would be an awesome place to hang out!

Adorable--and great analogy.

I loved being a waitress! Those were the days....

This made me smile, Heather, because we tell the Tongginator to "bus her place." Yes, Momma put herself through school waiting tables. And you never lose the lingo. I'm still marrying the ketchup bottles and 86-ing lots of things. Heh.

Good think you love being a server cause that is sure what we moms are! My oldest two are getting a taste of restaurant life this summer.

We're in the restaurant business, too, and my boys love to play what they call "restaurant, restaurant." They get out every pot and utensil they can find and whip up fun meals like lego soup.

As much as you loved working in a restaurant, you were probably loved even more by the owners. :)

Oh your kids are just too cute. And I love the commentary too!

Asher with the mower just made my day! :)

I loved the shot of Asher with the sippy cup in his mouth!

I'm going to add "running a restaurant" to my list of thing I do each day... oh, except that one of my guests is never satisfied (she's 3). What's your secret?!
