Frown Line

Friday~October 9th, 2009

My kids are growing up so much faster than I am.

I realized this once again because Ryan and I have been making Big Adult Decisions lately.

Big
Adult
Decisions

Ha! Get it? B.A.D...

Anyway, so much of the time, I simply can't believe I'm in the role of making grown-up decisions. Like it's all an elaborate trick, or maybe I've been hallucinating. I quite like being a grown-up in many ways, and I'm really glad that our children are not hallucinations, but still...I have a tendency to get overwhelmed by the B.A.D. part of being an adult.

Look. Even Miles notices my stress level...

(please note the frown line between my eyes)
(and the candy corn nose, I like that part.)

There's a lot on our little family's plate right now (and no, I'm not pregnant), so I'm going to have to take my B.A.D. self to task and do these very grown up things. There's a whole lot to do in a short period of time. Wish us well, m'kay?

Peace out.

Geez do I know what you mean - so much B.A.D....

Praying for you Heather. It sounds like you have so much going on and I know that can be rough. It can cause frown lines and...maybe even a candy corn nose. - Who knows?

Mmmmm....Candy corn

Good luck with everything you must swallow off of your plate. Always remember, you don't HAVE to eat everything, just those things that are good for you.

I hope everything goes well for you.

I know exactly what you mean about being surprised that you're in the position of being the adult making the decisions. I feel that way a lot!

I don't much like the B.A.D part of grown-up life either. Well-wishes all the way around to you.

Growing up is crummy and wonderful all in one moment, and inevitably CONFUSING.

I kind of like the picture though - makes you look like an evil genius.

right in the middle of a bunch of B.A.D. too... am I really this old or is it all just a bad dream? :)

In my thoughts! I never thought of it as the B.A.D, but i like it!

I have a minivan, a mortgage and a few wrinkles and I still feel like a fraud just pretending to be an adult some day.
B.A.D decisions can leave me a puddle for weeks. So, I'm feeling your pain.

Wishing you all kinds of peace and good vibes. (p.s. I love the drawing. Especially the candy corn nose!!!)

I don't much care for the B.A.D. part of being an adult, either. Good luck to you! Your frown line is charming.

The frown line...haha. I hate enforcing the rules. My kids know it too. (my frown line is vertical. Just felt like sharing that with you.) :)

Good luck with the B.A.D's!

It is so strange to realize you are "grown up" isn't it. I look around at other people my age and think "wow, they look old" Then it hits me....I must look the same!!

Praying for you B.A.D.s

The drawing is awesome! It reflects my feelings of late perfectly, including the knot in the stomach.

Prayers for you in all your BAD-ness!

Chin up!

Ah, the portrait of a mother! It reminds me of a picture my son drew just last year.

It is tough to make those decisions sometimes, huh? You are so BAD! LOL

Leave it to a man child to omit hair. When are men going to start understanding just how important hair is to us? It's like our third most important body part.

Unknown said...

Oh, I don't know I was pretty impressed with your chin hairs and enormous belly button. What's a little frown line compared to those!!! :)

Praying for you, friend, during this busy time.

Julie said...

Well wishes being sent...try to get rid of that frown line, you'll get stuck that way.

Kristen@nosmallthing said...

Good luck with your decisions. It's tough being a grown up sometimes. That's for sure.

On another note...I love the drawing. Love it. Especially the nose. :)

If it makes you feel better, I'm right there with you. We are in the midst of a B.A.D. year. Everything except for God and family is on the table.

Switch job? Heck, switch careers? Move across the country to a place where we know no one? Public schools instead of private schools for the kids? New baby? Why not?

We'll be here supporting you, Heather!

Haha! The 3 year old I nanny for drew a picture of me and there was an alligator flying at my head...wonder what that's supposed to mean...

PS Thank you for stopping by on my special day!

Once my daughter asked me "When is that line between your eyes going to go away?" and I had to bite my tongue so I didn't answer her honestly: "Not before you grow up and move out, baby."

But somehow they manage to make us beautiful, too... right? Maybe?

Haley said...

B.A.D. suck! Hang in there, I hope everything gets better for you all really soon!

Prayers for you. :-)

While I don't in any way ever regret the existence of any of my kids, and only rarely regret that it's my job to parent them, I very very very often question how I got to be a grown up and whether I really even am one. It's not so much that I feel like I'm faking it as that . . . I don't know how to put it, sometimes I just get a little dis-associative from the whole thing. (For a little while, until I have to leave my anxieties and disconnection behind, and do the next grown-up job.)

Prayer's always helpful, and I loved your next post about that.

Christy said...

OH Heather I hope everything is okay in your world. Big hug being sent your way. I hate B.A.D.s too. Ugh.

ZDub said...

I have a case of the BAD's right now too.

And I have to say that picture looks JUST like you. Heh.
