My mom is currently on her way here to spend a couple of days, so I'm getting to the point now where I can stop battling what is to come. If I get sick, so be it. At least I'll have help with the boys. If I run to the bathroom the minute my mom walks through the door, I'll start being a full believer in mind over matter, but mostly I'll be even more of a believer in the Answerer of small miracle prayers.
Ryan and I were on the phone last night and he was looking at the blog (this one). It's one way for him to stay connected when he's gone for work. Sometimes I put stuff on here I forget to tell him and sometimes he learns something new about me. Like from yesterday's post, when he learned the truth about my public puking episodes. I asked him about his and he didn't have any! I am so jealous. He said he used to fear that it would happen and he'd have those dreams when he was a kid, like when you go to school naked. Only in his nightmares, he would throw up in front of everyone. I guess he had enough humiliation in his dreams and therefore never had to endure it in real life. I love how you can continue to learn new things about someone who you talk to everyday. It's one of the joys of it I suppose.
I asked my grandpa once to tell me one secret to staying married. He said that he tried hard to learn something new about my grandma every day. Then it was like they were always a little new to each other. In a sense, he had that "dating" feeling their entire marriage, I would imagine. I love that. And I loved that he always called my grandma either his "beloved" or his "bride." I recently had the opportunity to dig a little deeper into what it means to be a bride. Now I love it even more that my grandpa continued to call my grandma that 40 some years into marriage. A bride is so beautiful and she's so cherished. And when I think of one, I think of this extra special, set-apart, radiant, expectant, and hopeful girl. A girl totally in love and ready to take on the challenges and joys of a lifetime with one person. It's a pretty nice compliment to be called "bride." My grandma was sure a lucky lady.
