Bloggy Giveaway!

Rocks in the Sun by Troy Livesay

I met more blog friends yesterday. God is really good. I can't believe He takes the time to bring just the right people to my life via the silly old internet. But He does.

I'm thankful for the chance to hug Tara while jumping up and down. Meeting her was like meeting an old friend. An old friend that I had never before met, but felt like the comfort of an old shoe. Yes, Tara. You are an old shoe. And that's the best kind of compliment. Because you're the kind of friend I would definitely choose to put on, familiar and broken in, as if I'd met you somewhere other than bloglandia years and years ago. You are lovely! Thank you for fitting in some moments with me in your short trip to the Minnesota.

Check out the Livesay (Haiti) Web Log, people. It is a beautiful (nearly) daily portrayal of life in Haiti with a family of nine who will be the first to say they aren't perfect. But that's part of what makes them so inspiring as they tell their stories with honesty, humor and faith. They knew God wanted them in Haiti and even in fear, they went. Isn't that what life is all about?

I picked up Troy's book yesterday. Rocks in the Sun; Haiti in Pictures and Proverbs.

It is so beautiful. I've poured over the pictures and words and loved every moment. So I've decided to give it away during the Bloggy Giveaways Carnival! (click on the words to see more giveaways.)

(No worries. After I give it away, I'm going to order another one for myself. I can't NOT have one.)

All you have to do is leave a comment. Don't forget your contact information (an email or your blog address.)

I know you'll be busy visiting all the bloggy giveaways, but you won't be disappointed if you take the time to check out the Livesay (Haiti) Web Log too. (:

Good luck!

P.S. Speaking of giveaways, I won ANOTHER one! She won mine, I won hers. We're tied. Thank you, Melanie J!

Update: OOPS. I forgot to say when I'll announce the winner. How about Sunday? Sunday sounds good to me- November 3rd it is. Big drawing. Sunday.

Update: I just realized I was supposed to end this giveaway yesterday. The carnival ended then. So I'm drawing the name this morning and I'll post the winner this evening! No more comments after 9:30am, central on Sunday. Thank you!

I feel like I shouldn't enter or I might win and we'll become the center of a minor internet conspiracy theory.

But it sounds too interesting not to, so I'm entering!

I've never tried to win an online give-away before but for photos and proverbs (along with the endorsement of my newest online friend), maybe today isn't a bad day to start.

So count me in on this contest.

Am I seeing this correctly? Do they have EIGHT kids? I know one is the live-in niece, but EIGHT? AND they live there? That is incredible. I don't know how my faith would pan out if I was being called to do something like that. What a great experience!

Can't wait to win the book!!! :-) I'm so presumptive, but seriously - pick me.

Hey. Pick me.

Yeah, I'm feeling a little sick-ish today, so I couldn't muster up any real enthusiasm. But someday, when I'm myself again, I'll be happy that I entered the drawing.

See? Can't even bring myself to do a little smiley face.

Oh I am so jealous that you got to meet Tara IRL! Don't enter me because I have already bought several copies of the book, but I just wanted to say that my Haitian kiddos LOVE to look at Troy's book, and IMHO it is a MUST HAVE for anyone parenting a Haitian child. Our kids should know that their country is a beautiful place...

Hi Heather-
Wow. I have not been able to read your blog for two weeks ... so I was catching up and saw this sweet thing you did here. I felt instantly connected too -- and that is not always the case when meeting "internet friends" (that sounds like it could be wrong) --- you are so adorable and I love that I found you from your SCL comment ... which is quite random yet not coincidence at all! I am praying for you and for Ryan and just hoping that God will make a way for you all to not do this travel all the time thing for much longer ... now I need to go read more posts ... love to you! THANK you for coming - I loved meeting your cute face.
