From the mouth of Miles

This week's "From the Mouth of Miles" is making me all weepy. As I went to post this, he left the kitchen saying, "Mommy, when I'm a grown-up, I will drink coffee with you." Okay, but stop growing up so fast...
_______
After biting his lip, he cries and says through his tears, "I bit my wiiip." So I try to console him by saying, "Oh, Honey I'm sorry." There's a pause and he says, "Don't be sorry Mom, you didn't bite my lip."

He's doing a little dance in front of Asher, who sits on the floor smiling up at his big brother. Miles says, "I'm just showing Asher my moves."

Miles and Daddy are looking out the window and Daddy says, "LOOK! The bird bath is frozen!"
To which Miles responds, "Yeah! Now birds can skate on it!"

He's running around all crazy, on a sugar high or something and yells out, "Ladies and Gentlemen! Hold on to your purses and squirts! (skirts)"

We picked up the exact Spiderman costume Miles preferred for Halloween this week. He has pretty much been wearing it ever since.

We got home and put the costume on and he went to look in the mirror. He came back with a seriously shy look on his face and said, "I'm so proud of myself."

"I'm proud of you too, sweetie."

Now everything is said in third person.
He falls and he says, "Spiderman is fine."
He runs in the room and says, "Spiderman will save you."
It is all very serious.

I looked over at him the other night and he was doing this.

I asked if he was stretching, thinking he wouldn't even know what I was talking about. He said, "Yes, Spiderman needs to stretch. You have to stretch so you can protect people and fly."

(Obviously.)

And last but not least, he turns to me and says, "I was just telling my butt not to toot at you."

Gee, thanks.

Don't be sorry mom you didn't bite my lip is killing me. He is way too funny! And adorable! My kids are all growing up way too fast and it sounds like you are feeling the same way. Can't we just freeze them right here for a little extra?

My kids are 28, 24, 22, 21, 20, 17, and 13. They have grown up so fast. The grandkids, 9, 7, 6, 3, 22 months, and 15 months, have continued this tradition. The youngest, Cloe, is here daily. They live 6 blocks away. she has this sweet habit of saying 'thank you' .. it started out as 'ta ta' then 'tay too' and has developed to 'tank too'. She says it if you give her something or if she gives you something. It is adorable.

Tomorrow it will be different, but still as sweet.

Um, I think I like the tooting part best. That is great.
He sounds a lot like my guy, always webbing people!

I myself have all boys and I am completely biased but I think they are so witty and funny. The words spoken by Miles are familiar and fabulous! I love that you share these moments with us.

I don't think I've mentioned that I love the name Miles, but I do. He's adorable.

I love these posts I need to do more of these. How cute is he as spiderman?

I think the comment "Don't be sorry, you didn't bit my lip" is pretty darn advanced. Really! Almost scary, even, but only to me because I get scared when my kids show signs of being smarter than me. Yet, they are. I should just get used to it.

These are hilarious! I love him!

I love the cute things kids say. And silently talking to his butt - what can you say to that?

Stephanie said...

Okay, they're all hilarious, but the last one is a classic!

I wish my son would have that conversation with his butt.

But being happy because the birds get to skate?

That rocks.

Showing off his moves made me smile and laugh; my youngest 2 were showing off their moves last night to Dancing with the Stars. Max actually said, what do you think of my moves Mom? Cutie Pies.

Blessings, Whitney

Here's hoping his butt listens to him. As to the betrothal suggestion, I am all for it. However, you may wish to first check out the Tongginator's idea of a wedding dress. You may end up changing your mind! (E-mail me and I'll share the link.)

Hey, I'm going to catch up here soon, but I hope you saw all the photos. I think I was in the process of editing when you came by.

Have a happy day.

What a considerate boy to talk to his butt for you!

Spiderman totally rocks, I used a lot of spidey talk when I taught Swimming Lessons.

Kai wanted to be Spiderman for Halloween, but now he's decided to go for something a little less tame, a Zombie... all that wall climbing and swinging tires him out I think. Zombies just have to pretend to be dead.

Aquaspce said...

Oh yeah,
And the butt line was hilarious... I was sitting in the office at work and almost sprayed soda everywhere...

Peanut said...

He must keep you laughing all the time! I love the spiderman outfit.

I love the one about not tooting... my daughter lately will suddenly look up at me and declare, "I'm trying to toot!"

That last one cracked me up! He is one adorable boy! I think it's so amazing how brilliant he is and he doesn't even know it.

JCK said...

OK, the posts with the kid quotes always get to me and your Miles is full of them. And that last quote...too damn funny!

He's adorable. You ARE proud. I can tell. :)

That is one seriously awesome kid you have there.

But you knew that already.
