All over the place

  • There is something entirely and completely broken about me trying to post a video.
  • So, NO NOGGIN FOR YOU! (I said I would post a video of Asher post-surgery, but no, I can't figure out what in the world is wrong with uploading it and I'm sick of trying. So, NO SOUP...er, I mean... no NOGGIN for you!)
  • STINK.
  • Which means I have to share some random thoughts from my head instead. Sorry...
  • Miles just walked over here and said, "We are using this house SOOOOO much, it's going to get old, but we'll still live here."
  • Hope so.
  • Today Ryan (husband) said that the neurosurgeon "must have found the 'on' switch..."
  • That was his nice way of saying that Asher is currently OUT OF CONTROL. He's all over the place! (He was fussy and kind of sleepy before the surgery...now he's fussy and kind of all over the place! Oh my.
  • We ventured out on our first family errands since Asher's surgery today. People stared at his head. Long and hard. I forgot to expect that. But whatever. He's beautiful with that bump on his noggin (and even with the stitches) if you ask me.
  • (you can't really tell from the picture, but there are some bumps under those stitches and people find them FASCINATING.) (Oh, and that's chocolate he's wiping all over his eye.)
  • I should never EVER try to make any kind of truffles of any kind ever ever again in my whole life. Ever.
  • Stephanie of Diapers and Divinity brought us the best lasagna in the whole world last night (in the snowy traffic with three kiddos in tow, bless her heart.) She rocks the dinner party.
  • What IS the difference between parchment paper and wax paper anyway?
  • Miles said, and I quote, "The Grinch is petend (pretend), but God is real. He is with us and He'll take the costume off the Grinch and it will be YOU under there."
  • Yeah, that makes me the Grinch.
  • But if you think about this quote very hard, you'll see that my child is quite intelligent theologically. (Except theologically I am NOT the "Grinch," thank you very much.)
  • Ryan snores (A LOT) and so sometimes I have to move to another room to get any sleep at all.
  • I have no idea what the point of this post is but I think I'll push 'publish' anyway...
  • maybe.
  • okay, yeah...I'm going to...but I feel all weird about it.
  • In the end, I don't really care that much what people think.
  • Obviously.

Wax paper has a waxy layer on it while parchment doesn't. Don't line something with wax paper and bake with it cause then the wax melts and gets on your cookies or whatever and also is smelly (I know from experience), but parchment paper works well as a liner for baking, whereas wax paper is good for say, rolling out dough or making truffles.

So glad to hear Asher rocks, that Grinch comment is hilarious.

Yeah...
Thank You to God for helping Asher and ahahaha to the rest.
I often post with no specific meaning behind it so I'm glad sometimes you do too!

I'm so glad you pushed the publish button. Really. You old Grinch you! When our Big Guy had tubes put in his ears and his adnoids burned down (I guess "removed" is the more genteel way of saying it) and the blood and other goop sucked out of his sinuses (he was 2 1/2) he was really fiesty for a while, too, at first. He enjoyed running all over the place and not being in pain because of it--he could cry without causing his head to hurt, he could do whatever he wanted and guess what? It didn't hurt! But, he got over it. It took about 15 years, but . . no just kidding--he was crazy for a whole different reason after that. But I'm sure Asher will get back to his usual sweeter nature soon. Maybe it has something to do with the anesthesia--for example, people who are bipolar can have dangerous mood swings from it--so normal little people can probably have mild ones with their sensitive little systems. Can I have a truffle? Maybe Stephanie at Divinity and Diapers will bring it over. It's not like it's even snowing over here, or anything.

Poor little Asher. He still has to get used to all the new feelings, plus the healing from the surgery. And poor parents. I hope you're all hanging in there.

I LOVE the house quote as well as the Grinch one. And I love that I've seen video of that boy now so I can picture him saying them.

I feel your pain about the snoring. What is up with that? Is it really necessary for them to make as much noise as a garbage truck in order to get good sleep? Sheesh!

And I'd like to try some of your truffles (and maybe rub a little in my eye).

Oh, and Stephanie is awesome!

I am glad Asher is doing well! Stitches, bumps and all.

Miles cracks me up. I'm still laughing about the Grinch comment. :)

I don't think his head looks all that bad! Poor little guy.

Dang, Miles is killing me today. His last quote sounds like something from:

A. A Self-help book

B. A Jack Handey Deep Thought

Funny kid!

I'm sure once Asher gets used to having a lighter head, he'll be more normal. Or you could have the surgeon install a dimmer...

There are so many nights when I write a pretty decent post and get stuck on the last paragraph and just sit there and stare at it for an hour. I'm totally stealing your last four bullet points for the next time that happens.

I'm glad you guys are hanging in there.

Miles is hilarious! You should keep him :)

Is it weird that I just want to kiss his owie better? He looks so much like my JJ from that angle.

... and are you seriously trying to make truffles 3 days after your "out of control" boy had surgery??? You amaze me. I'd be found in the fetal position crying in a corner somewhere by now! My kids have croup (yes, again) and I consider it a good day if I make it out of my pj's before Daddy gets home!

I have never used parchment paper in my life. I'd like to think that this will be the year that I actually figure out what it's for!

If you take the Grinch role, I can still have Scrooge. Thanks!

I'm so glad everything went well! I bet Asher is just trying to get used to so many new sensations.

And I hope you're not the Grinch, because if your heart grew 3 more sizes you might explode - it's so big already!

I'm glad you hit publish. This post made me smile. It's okay to be disjointed some days- it doesn't make you the grinch! You do have a smart little guy though to reason all of that out.

Glad Asher is turning into a whirling dervish. At least for a little while. I suppose he's making up for lost time. It's wonderful that the scariest part is behind you and you can look forward now.

You look nothing like the Grinch...by look I mean you could wear the green hairy suit and "look" like the Grinch but you still wouldn't look like the Grinch because you have this laugh...this joyful, infecious laugh that is NOTHING close to grinchy.

Hmmm...I wonder WHY Miles would think to put you in the Grinch costume...what ya been doin' girl? :o)

Asher looks great (from behind) and he will be pain free from now on! Go Asher!!

My vote? Snorer=Grinch. I sleep with a grinch too.

Asher's stiches look pretty good to me!

What's wrong with the truffle? THe chocolate's still edible right?
Now you don't have to share them.
Score.

I always made the snorer go to another room. Is sleep apnea a possibility? If so, the machine that helps also helps with the snoring.

Kimberly Vanderhorst said...

There's too much here to respond to any one thing so I'll just say I love ya!

And I'm never making truffles again either. Oi!

You're not the Grinch -- I am.

If the truffles taste good, I say keep making them. Chocolate cures everything ;)
