If you've been reading my blog long, I'm sure you're thinking that this post is about Tuesday Whitt. In a way this post is about that Tuesday, but mostly it's a tribute to a couple of other people.
Every Tuesday over at Halftime Lessons and Dirty Socks and Pizza (for over a year now) it's time to link up for Tuesday's Tribute. A day to write about someone other than yourself, a tribute to the person (or place or thing) of your choice.
Jay of Halftime Lessons is the guy pictured in my sidebar on the left. On March 21st he's shaving his head once again for St. Baldrick's, an organization raising money for cancer research. That rocks the party. Go ahead and give that picture a clickety click and read more about Jay and his family, and how they're doing their part to fight cancer. Scroll through the site and have a good laugh while you're there. The posts are well-written and insightful, full of life and lessons, with humor spread throughout in just the right doses.
I don't think it's a coincidence that Jay and Deb had the idea for Tuesday's Tribute all those months ago, and now they too have been moved and changed by Tuesday Whitt's story. So every time I take part in this weekly tribute to someone other than myself, I'll do it in honor of Tuesday Whitt. It will be a weekly reminder that it's not all about me. A reminder to think outside myself and work on what I can do for someone else.
---------------
I've been thinking about Melanie J. of Write Stuff a lot these days. She's an excellent writer, and her blog is one of the best humor blogs on the web, in my opinion. (Melanie, is it okay that I just went ahead and put your blog in the humor category? If you don't like it, you should probably stop being so funny and insightful and smart and...)Melanie's posts are so ridiculously good I find myself giddy with excitement when a new post pops up on my reader. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that. (Picture me giggling at my monitor, rocking back and forth, you wouldn't be far off.)
The reason I write this short little tribute for Melanie J is because her strength astounds me. Her life has been unique to say the least. And sometimes it's been really hard. Melanie experienced the loss of both of her parents far too young about a year apart. Her tributes to them on Write Stuff have been so sincere and moving, filled with joyful memories of two lives well lived. Melanie's parents taught her how to live and love, and she's doing an amazing job at both. So thank you, Melanie. Your story, your words, and your life uplift and inspire. (And you go on really cool dates with your husband.) (And you blog about the most random things, and I freaking LOVE that.)
(Aren't tributes fun?)

I admire Jay, Deb, and Melanie so much.
What a great tribute, Heather!
I love Melanie, too. I'm going to go check out Halftime Lessons.
Great idea to have a weekly reminder.
Melanie is great, isn't she? I keep hearing about Tuesday Whitt - I need to read up a little more. I'm so sad for her family that they are dealing with the loss of a beautiful little girl.
I dont go a day without thinking of Tuesday.
great tributes to great bloggers!
I love Melanie too! And I love the fact that we all know each other on here:)
I haven't read Melanie before....gonna have to go discover her! Thanks!
Melanie is awesome. The world should know :>
I'm off to learn more about those 2 friends.....thanks for sharing!
I'll have to check these blogs out, thanks for the recomendations.
I feel like such an idiot right now because I'm sitting here crying. Crying. I'm a dork. But this just cheered me so much. I'm glad you see all those things in my blog and I'm so humbled by your comment.
But you should know too that so many things you blog about feature prominently in my prayers. Asher, Tuesday...the list goes on. If it weren't for your blog, I'd probably run out of people and causes to pray for. But on top of that, I'm always just uplifted, whether it's by a smile because of your dog and her red ball or the profound insights you share, so thanks for that.
Hey, thanks for the tip. I checked out Melanie's blog and I loved it!
She sounds great!
I'll check her out, too!
Must. Click. Now. Because if Heather thinks she's funny, then she is. :)

Heather, the way you just described feeling about Melanie is exactly how I feel about you. I am always eager for your posts. You move me, make me laugh, swipe a tear, and clickity-click until my eyes can't stare at the screen anymore. Thank YOU for blogging. I am edified and uplifted each time I read your posts.

I just started reading Melanie's blog a few weeks ago and she really is a hoot! Every blog I read gives me something new. Thanks, Heather (and Melanie) for being an enjoyable place to come and visit!
Very nice tributes. I love all these new people...and grow so much in different ways from what people have to share.

Great tribute, my friend.
I'm way behind. I love Melanie too.
I'm sorry about the ball but those pictures are hilarious. . .and reminding me why I don't want a dog.
I'm also sorry I missed the waggie ride. My boys would have loved it. I need to get on here more often because you inspire me.
