The trip rocked. And so does this game I made up.

We had a really good time on our trip, see?

(That's me, having a really good time.)

Anyway, moving on....

What? You're confused?

Let me explain...

I said I wanted to do a puzzle on our short little vacation. AND I said I wanted the puzzle to have a lot of faces on it. I came across this puzzle (while out searching for facey puzzles), and my wish was granted...

Yeah, lots and lots of faces. (I was possibly entirely too excited about this.) I would like to say here (for the record) that my sister Shelly and I did this puzzle almost entirely on our own. My Dad can pretend that he had a really big hand in it and all that, but he did not. He simply held a puzzle piece in his hand as I was about to finish the whole ginormous thing, and then plopped that last piece into place as some sort of victory when I couldn't find it. YEAH....EEEEVIIIIL!!!!

Other than that totally traumatizing experience (and the fact that there were nine hundred gazillion billion wood ticks out there), our trip was a hit...

Miles thinks boating is cool.

And we all think Minnesota is beautiful...

Getting away from home and all of it's daily demands is always a good thing. Spending time with friends and family is even better. And yet, people almost always come home saying they need a vacation from their vacation. It's the traveling and sleeping in strange beds thing that can be hard.

(Seriously, I turned around to take a photo and they were doing this.)
(No. They never fell asleep on the way home. Just ask them, they were NOT tired.)
(Yes. Asher still has the girly carseat.)

Sure, we're all more than a little worn out, but it was totally worth it.

Okay, now back to that closer look at the cool puzzle. Just for kicks, if you feel like it and you're super bored, why don't you see if you can name a bunch of these characters? Feel free to add a few from the bigger shot above if you're totally competitive (I think clicking on them will work to make them bigger.) Whoever gets the most wins!

What do we win, Heather?

Um...THE GAME! So exciting! I'll let you know who won tomorrow. (Yes, I'm seriously weird. I really did think that trying to name all the TV personalities was the best part of this puzzle.)

****Update: Even through my tired fog, I just realized that of course you'll be giving each other the answers. Since you can see each other's comments and all that. So I guess the last person to name more than the person before them will be the big winner. You can just go ahead and say "What she said, AND I found...."

Just so you know, I have another post coming later today because I did so much thinking on our trip, and of course I need to let it out. I can't help it.

Now ready, set, GO! I see Marvin the Martian, do you?

In this recent season of life, I will say... Bert, Ernie & Barney. ;)

Cute post.

The rubby eye picture!! :) Good catch, mom. LOL Glad to hear your trip went well. I'm horrible about tv stars....I'll leave this to people like my husband!

Bert and Captain Kirk are jumping out at me. You should psychologically profile us based on who we see, like an ink blot test.

Oh - I see Underdog at the bottom! Can you tell I've been working on my Underdogs Unite site??

I'm too brain dead to name faces, but I do think your dad is the evilest of evils for pulling that last-piece-of-the-puzzle trick. (I'm sure he's a very nice guy, otherwise!)

Glad you had a great time.

I love puzzles and this one looked extra fun. I'm really bad at names though...oh well. Can I get a prize anyway?

I see Farah Fawcett, Jay Leno, Batman and Robin and that Jeopardy host--what's his name?

And yes, someone in my family always pulls the last piece trick. Typically the one who worked on the puzzle least, yes?

Glad you enjoyed the lake country. Look forward to our trip there in August.

My husband can imitate Marvin the Martian to perfection. One of the reasons I married him. . .

I won't name names but I will say that again, I love your photos. Minnesota sure looks gorgeous through your lens. (I've never been there.)

(I'm not looking at anyone else)

The bottom picture:
Kelsey Grammer, I think that next one is a young Steve Guttenburg??, Drew Carey, Pee Wee Herman, Mr Rogers, Batman Robin, Odd Couple,Bert & Ernie, Columbo, Dude from Chips, Phil Donohue, cast from Seinfeld, Lucille Ball X 2 (Love the Vitavidevegimin skit!!), Pamela Anderson, Mary Tyler Moore, Alex Trebec, Bob Barker, Dave Letterman, Jay Leno, Spock, Marvin the Martian (as you said), The USS Enterprize, Ed from the Honeymooners, Archie and Edith Bunker, Daisy Duke, Captain Kirk, Mr Rogers (again?!?), Underdog, The Mars Lander?!, Wayne and Garth, Eddie Murphy,

Are we doing the top picture, too?? Its kinda blurry, so I can't make out a ton of people, but I can try:

Bill Cosby, Jeffersons, 3 stooges, Bullwinkle and Rocky, Lassie, Charlie Brown, The Munsters, Dick Clark, Fonzie from Happy Days, Gumby, Dennis Franz from NYPD Blue, Suzanne Summers John Ritter and the dark haired chick from the cast from Three's Company, Flintstones, Wonderwoman (my ultimate hero as a girl), Superman, Ted Danson Woody Harrelson John Ratzenburger and George Wendt from cheers, Ricardo Montalban and "Tattoo" from Fantasy Island (RIP in Jan, btw), the spectacularly awesome cast from Friends Ross, Phoebe Rachel Joey Chandler Monica, Carol Burnett, Charlies Angels (Did you see the special about Farrah Fawcetts cancer?:( ), Kermit, Lone Ranger and I think see Gilligan at the bottom left..

and that's all I can get. I may be back later after I think on these picture some more.

Oh, and I'm not a huge TV or anything. {giggle}

BTW, you and I have yet another thing in common. For NYE every year, my mother and I would do a puzzle. She glued together the puzzle for me as a Christmas present one year, and it nearly broke me, I had hoped to continue that tradition with my children. I was beyond upset :(

Needless to say, seeing this picture reminds me SO much of my childhood, when TV was such a novelty, and shows w/ TV dinners, sitting with your parents, cuddling up, laughing along with them, back when it was still okay to do. I miss that, you know?

God, when did I get old? :(

Thank you for this post, I know you didn't intend for anything but a game and an update, but you made me remember, remember a time when I was young and when things weren't so crazy and time spent with my parents. Giving someone such a vivid memory to remember is like a finely wrapped present.

Thank you!

Beautiful pictures! I'm so glad you had a great time :)

That's my kind of puzzle, although I doubt I could name a single person in it!

I was truly going to try until I saw Lisa's comment. I say give it to Lisa!
