I think I'll go for a walk outside now

Sunday~September 20, 2009

I love a whole lot of things, but one of my favorites is when friends and strangers alike come together for the love of the same thing, for something they care about, to help.

So yesterday was a good day, walking around Lake Calhoun with stranger/friends "for the love of Liz," and to raise money for the foundation that was born in her honor.

Liz Logelin 5K - Lake Calhoun-Minneapolis, MN

Matt Logelin with daughter Maddy on his head

The lovely crew I had the pleasure of walking with

When I wrote the post about doing this walk and why, so many of you took the time to donate what you could to this cause or to leave a comment to reach my $100 goal. Thank you just isn't enough, really. But thank you. Your kindness spread all around Lake Calhoun yesterday, and it was an honor to be a part of that. The best part is that it will continue to spread.

And also, Susan and I got to talk blogging and life all the way around the lake.
I always look confused in photos.
You'd think I'd know what's about to happen with a camera by now, but apparently I don't.

I absolutely love Matt's blog, the way he writes about his love for the wife he lost and the daughter he spends his days with is just plain beautiful. To learn more about what Matt and Maddy are up to, and how to help families who are grieving an unspeakable loss, you can check out the latest post on Matt's blog here. There are links to the latest interviews with Matt in which he talks about their very exciting upcoming adventures, and all the work the Liz Logelin foundation is doing.

P.S. Surprisingly, I did not trip or make much of a fool of myself at all. (That I know of.) BUT, I will admit that my legs did feel like rubber after walking only 3.2 miles. Seriously, Heather. Get in shape.

The End.

I'm pretty sure my legs would be sore after 3.2 miles too. Sigh. So glad you had an awesome time at the walk - if I wasn't hundreds (a thousand?) of miles away, I would have been there getting sore with you. What an inspiring story he and his daughter are. So glad they raised so much money for the foundation.

I actually have a picture of us where you don't look confused. I may look something else but not confused, lol
Awesome that you had the chance to join in on the walk!

I didn't put two and two together, and had no idea you knew Susan. You are both amazing!

I caught up on Susan's blog this morning. What a wonderful dad. I am so proud of you for walking 3.2. miles and only feeling rubber instead of knife shooting pain.

I'm so glad you participated in this walk. Watching our neighbor, as he struggles to raise his young twins after the death of his wife last year, well... this is an excellent foundation.

Did you really think there was a possibility of tripping while walking? I would do that but nobody else would.

You don't look confused but you do look cute!

But now I'm going to have to go find my iPod - I must get that song out. of. my. head.

I totally intended to do the LLF5k, but well, then life intervened and I didn't. I would have hunted you down an introduced myself though. And, I totally recognizze the silver haired, pink jacketed 3-Day beauty. I did a few training walks with her in 2008 and saw her on the route a few times in 2009. She is an amazing woman and was such an encouragement to me in 2008 as a first time walker. What a small world.

Congrats on completing the walk and having fun while doing it. If you did a 5K...wouldn't you have only walked 3.1 miles? :)
