It's always even better than I thought it would be

Thursday~August 20, 2009

We Minnesotans (and former Minnesotans) have a lot in common.
When we meet, we almost always have at least one mutual friend.
We have (or had) the accent. MINNAHSOHTAH
Many of us are blue-eyed blondes (or former blondes).
And some of us blog.
And then we meet.
And it's good.

Meet Sara (in the middle) of Domestically Challenged.
And then meet (on the right) Beth of Manic Mother.

We met for dinner the other night.
We talked like we've known each other always.
Which means we talked a lot, and it was good. Uff da!

Beth is no longer living in Minnesota (not for now anyway) so she's here for a visit. I'm so glad I got to meet her. She has two boys that are the same ages as Miles and Asher (4 and 2). She brought her 4 year old along on this trip, but she couldn't bring her 2 year old Ezra. He's the beautiful boy you'll see in my sidebar who's currently fighting cancer. Meeting his lovely Mama was even more confirmation for me that Ezra will certainly win this battle. His Mama is a fighter with an optimistic spirit.

There's actually a post from my archives up on Beth's blog today. That way she can take a bit of a break from updating her blog while she enjoys her time in Minnesota. Many of you are familiar with the post about how I humiliated myself in a parking lot while "rapping" to get my kids to listen to me. But if you haven't read it, go on over. It might make you laugh at me.

It was truly a pleasure to meet with these lovely ladies. (Even if Sara makes me feel like a bit of a monster with her petite and perfectly fit self. I'll forgive her that because she's kind and hilarious and she also has a boy named Asher. We're pretty sure her Asher is one of the first actually. I mean, besides the one from the Bible.)

You probably wouldn't even believe how many blogging meet-ups August holds (and has held) for me. I'm just having the best time. Earlier this month I went to dinner with Steph of Diapers and Divinity. This was the second time we've seen each other, but this time it was sans kiddos, so we got to finish sentences. It was a good time filled with good conversation and laughs. I didn't have my camera. Stink.

I'm looking forward to seeing the faces of a few more blog friends later this month (and um...actually tonight), and I feel just plain honored. I wish all of you that I've met through blogging lived here or came for a visit. Except not in the winter, I'd hate to do that to you. But if you live somewhere warm, feel free to invite me to visit you. In February. Thank you very much.

P.S. I updated my last post and revealed the 'O' name (for those of you who couldn't sleep over the not-knowing. You're welcome.).

You ARE having fun meeting lots of other bloggers - that is wonderful!

And you are welcome to come here in February. I'm guessing it gets into the 40's - on a 'cold' day... (since we haven't done winter here yet, I don't know for sure!)

Oh I know what you mean. Meeting our friends in real life is AWESOME! (like when I met you and I was totally so excited that I couldn't even find my phone and was worried about gushing and gushing, but then you laughed at me and I felt so at ease, yep that rocks)
I am going to meet Laura from Better in Bulk and Jyl from Mom it Forward tonight. And on Tuesday I'm meeting up with Loralee from Loralees Looney Tunes and and some other awesome Utah bloggers next week. It's so much fun!

i think we should found a city, and invite all the awesome people to live there

then it wouldn't take a road trip to meet the people you admire so much online :-)

we could call it Awesome City

I've always had the BEST time at bloggy meet-ups. Oh, if only Minnesota and Oklahoma weren't so tragically far apart. *sniff sniff* Oh well. There's always blog conferences, right?

I had a camera. I was just too chicken to ask for a photo. You know, like a stalking fan or something. :) Next time I'll be brave.

And I want to meet you.

Someday...

I have never been to Minnesota before. Which is kind of weird because I grew up in Iowa and live in Michigan, but it's true. :)

You're all over the place meeting your blog peeps! :) How fun. And I think that's so impressive that you have the guts to do it...I don't know why I get so nervous thinking of actually meeting anyone face to face. I have NO problems talking loudly or speaking to strangers in my everyday...hmmm....
Happy Thursday. :)

I think it's so fascinating...all the blog friendships. I know there are a lot of women I would love to meet. I'm sure I would be intimidated as heck, but I can dream.

I love winter. I will visit in the winter. :)

Heather, I just love your posts... I think I've told that before ;)

Well I probably won't make it to Minnesota but you can come to the Carolina coastline anytime! Actually maybe we'll both get to go to Type A Mom Conference and we won't have to worry about going to either of our homes! :)
